Project Overview

We are analyzing multimedia data in order to identify tradeoffs between its perceptual quality and its bit budget.  The results will allow us to introduce feature-dependent redundancies that protect perceptually important information.  Such protections will be combined with efficient end-to-end protocols and reconstruction schemes for delivering real-time data within prescribed constraints on bandwidth and delay.  The following figure depicts our overall approach.
