Research Project Title
Real-time Global Coordination of Large-Scale Network Embedded Devices

Unit # 23
Project Overview
The focal point of this project is to develop a large-scale simulator on multi-processor clusters to verify the algorithms and to infer properties difficult to deduce analytically. The simulator will incorporate communication delay and unexpected errors and faults. The simulator will be used to experiment and further develop real-time coordination algorithms for micro-sensors, including clock synchronization, global snapshot, and dynamic discovery of an ad hoc routing network. The algorithms will be on-line and use local communication to build a global consensus.
We will also study ways of validating the systems to guarantee bounded
reliability of developed algorithms in the presence of unexpected errors
and faults, such as communication failure, incorrect readings etc. The goal
is to demonstrate the feasibility of large-scale network embedded systems.
