Celebrate 60 Years of Science
In 2011, the Coordinated Science Laboratory celebrates 60 years of landmark accomplishments with a year of festivities.
Highlights will include:
- The Diamond Anniversary Seminar Series in the spring
- The CSL 60th Anniversary Symposium: Building Interdisciplinary Excellence with Societal Impact in the fall
During the past 60 years, CSL has been the incubator of many innovations that have changed the way people use technology. Among the most significant: the first electric vacuum gyroscope, enabling submarines to stay submerged for months; PLATO, the first computer-assisted instructional program; and the plasma monitor, for which CSL researchers earned an Emmy Award.
The 60th events will pay homage to these past accomplishments, while looking foward to our role in the tomorrow's game-changing technologies. Please join us as we recognize the spirit of innovation that defines and drives CSL – yesterday, today and tomorrow.
